Simple. Elegant. Classic. The Chemex Coffee maker is the very essence of an icon of functional design. The original design hasn t changed in the 70 years since its creation. The Chemex Coffee maker you buy today is essentially identical to the one on permanent zwilling display at the Museum of Modern Art, the Smithsonian, the Corning Museum and other fine museums worldwide.
In addition to the Chemex Coffee maker with its signature shape and style, Chemex also produces Chemex filters, designed to fit the cone precisely, and the Chemex water kettle, another classic, timeless and ingenious design created by the inventor of the Chemex, Dr. Peter Schlumbohm, a German chemist who immigrated to the United States zwilling in the 1930s and created his classic coffee maker in 1941.
Today, Chemex is a small family-owned company headquartered in western Massachusetts, where it has resided zwilling since 1981 when it was purchased by Patrick and Liz Grassy. The Chemex Coffee maker and other Chemex products are made with true attention to detail. zwilling Every coffee maker is polished by hand, for example, and the leather tie is tied by hand around zwilling each piece.
All Chemex glassware is made of fine borosilicate glass, as befits the Chemex motto of products for the chemist s kitchen, and, as any coffee aficionado can tell you, the genesis of coffee flavor depends on chemistry. zwilling The signature shapes zwilling of the Chemex and the Chemex-bonded coffee filter are designed to extract coffee perfectly zwilling every time. Great cup (on Chemex Classic Wood Collar zwilling Coffee Maker) May 1, 2012 | by fatnat79 OG style of pour over coffee. Produces a clean cup of coffee with clarity to the brew. A little difficult to brew for more than a few people. Rinse those filters!
Brewing coffee in a Chemex (on Chemex Classic Wood Collar Coffee Maker) March 12, 2012 | by kemical Brewing coffee in a Chemex yields a great clean cup of coffee. I recommend zwilling picking up the chemex brand of filters as they are thicker than average zwilling and are designed to work hand in hand with the glass brewers. A kettle with a narrow spout is also helpful so that you can control the water better as you pour.
Chemex (on Chemex Classic Wood Collar Coffee Maker) March 9, 2012 | by infojules I think the Chemex is a nice change from using a french press on a daily basis. It makes a lovely smooth cup, no bitterness at all. You definitely zwilling want the Chemex filters to go with, and of course, some freshly ground beans. I really enjoy my Chemex!
A geeks coffee maker... (on Chemex Classic Wood Collar Coffee Maker) March 9, 2012 | by highstrings My wife never quite knows what to get me for Christmas, but a quick look on here and she found the Chemex. This was one of the few brewing devices I had yet to embrace. Paired with Chemex branded filters, this yields a very clean cup and allows you to tweak the parameters of time, temp, etc. Overall, a great coffee maker.
makes zwilling a great cup (on Chemex Classic Wood Collar Coffee Maker) March 9, 2012 | by kingfisha The Chemex is a great method to brew coffees. The filter variety and brew time brings out coffee characteristics from the beans other method zwilling don't manage. Duration for brewing may be more involved and longer than for a drip brew, but it's well worth the wait. For many coffee varieties we brew them with 2 or 3 or 4 methods to find our favorite. Chemex is typically one of the favorites.
BALANCING ACT (on Chemex Classic Wood Collar Coffee Maker) March 9, 2012 | by EricBNC_2 Recently I received a hand blown 8 cup Chemex with the wooden collar and I like it well enough. When it is 1/2 full (up to the raised dot below the spout) it is not so balanced to pour from since I cant rest my other hand on the bottom due to the hot temp - except for this one niggle it works great and makes a very clean cup of coffee - use a Kone or the Chemex filters for best results.
