I do not know what was in the case of Professor / Abu Islam, and the right that I do not want to kn

I do not know what was in the case of Professor / Abu Islam, and the right that I do not want to know, many of Akaber bloggers revolted and rushing to defend the right of expression, and the illegality of his detention and released a photo effect that the confiscated at Abu Islam is a blow to freedom of expression on the Internet, and for all the right writing, and is not what any sane person convection can be denied, and therefore I find a picture of Abu Islam leads many blogs, and some of which I have great respect.
I wonder Suala everlastingly what the right of expression, and what is the custom / law / guideline principles that Nteke them to be able to distinguish between good and bad (so to speak), and what is al-Faisal between open writing that no fear of the subject or an individual or a government, and between racism writing that fights the other group in general, like weapons, money or other means, has always been what I thought that the word more lethal than any other tool, Vadb Greeks lived centuries convection after yard armies and gear and state continued in the minds and imaginations and poems People to this day.
But the network is full of writings oppress the other, it calls Boqbh words on the whole, and humiliation convection here lies on a range Bamomha - not the religion convection itself, or the content of the Aidologgio- and is permissible, but rather there wrote describe people of other religion, dogs and snakes and Gypsies and others, and these qualities fired on a group of people condemn the religion of a different writer, and this is the focus of my talk, Is this the freedom of expression? How? And what is the principle upon which the judge? Is the country and in a position to support such behavior convection towards other religions? I do not say that we are parents or guardians of what is said or what is not said ... but I say that we play a role.
I see that every owner of a religion, or Mentm religious group, or ethnic what, it is usually associated more with its rules and Noamesha, and may appear from singing the free hostility to the owners of the other religion, and it is something convection I reject completely, and I think many people agree with me in opinion, But is it the right of such person to insult the other group? Is it freedom of expression? The answer is no.
"... Dealing with priests convection and monks in the fight against Islam, and to advocate for what is not consistent with distorted (Muslims) in polygamy and women's freedom, equality convection and human rights in prostitution and fight Khvad women and advocacy to identify the descendants of Muslims and freedom rebound for debt consolidation issues ..."
Solution, and it is my plea today believer that my / our role and duty, is to return the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (adopted and proclaimed by United Nations General Assembly resolution 217 A (3) of 10 December / December 1948) and not He knew, and our starting point in dealing with the writing on the network, because religions are subject to interpretation, and passions and emotions, convection but the Declaration of Human Rights, I think it is not in good standing, and if governments and major countries condoned by a lot, do not we must work similarly.
Declaration of Human Rights to prevent the explicit discrimination on religious foundations, racial, ethnic, and the Declaration on the Elimination of All Forms of Intolerance and of Discrimination Based on Religion or Belief (adopted and proclaimed by General Assembly convection resolution 36/55, dated November 25 / November) says:
- Discrimination between human beings on the basis of religion or belief convection constitutes an affront to human dignity and a disavowal of the principles of the Charter of the United Nations, and must be condemned as a violation of human rights and fundamental freedoms proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and detailed in the International Covenants on Human Rights ....
Article 4: 1. all States shall take effective measures to prevent and eliminate discrimination on the basis of religion or belief, in recognition of human rights and fundamental freedoms in all fields of civil, economic, political, social and cultural life, and in the enjoyment of these rights and freedoms.
1. Everyone has the right to hold opinions without interference. 2. Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right includes freedom to seek various forms of information and ideas, receive and impart to others, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print form or in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice. 3. The exercise of the rights provided for in paragraph 2 of this article carries with it special duties and responsibilities. It may therefore be subject convection to certain restrictions, but these shall be defined by law and are necessary: (a) For respect of the rights or reputations convection of others, (b) For the protection of national security or public order, or of public health or morals.
There is also a Declaration on the Contribution of the media in support of peace and international understanding of basic principles, and the promotion of human rights, anti-racism, apartheid and incitement to war is subject to the system and I think it just perfect to deal with all forms of writing.
I know that some may consider to announce that it is incomplete, or incomplete, or not equal to the Holy Scriptures, laid off or humans, or a Zionist / Crusader / imperialism, each and every culture plan, and may be the view of this right, but I think that if Many people read the ad to believe in him.
Professor Abu Islam, has breached the base of freedom of expression, and entered into a cycle of hatred and racism convection and sometimes even incitement to war, and is not I find it prudent to be supported by the brotherhood of bloggers who have contributed and contribute to the defense of freedom of expression and civil rights, read once a post to which he says Alaa

Sony XPERIA Sola - the middle class, is the fourth model in the line 2012 after XPERIA S and XPERIA P with XPERIA U. As with all the "middling", it does not carry any major innovation, but does not suffer from obsolete technologies. Let's sog see if Sony managed to strike a balance and create a really interesting device. sog Dimensions 116x59x10 break mm Weight 108 g Operating System Android 2.3.7 Dual-Core processor NovaThor U8500, 1 GHz, Mali 400 graphics accelerator Display TFT, 3.7 ", 854x480 pixels (pixel density of 265 pixels per inch) coating Scratch-Resistant Glass Memory RAM 512 MB, 8 GB of storage (5 - available), micro-SD Camera 5 MP (2592x1944 points), autofocus, LED backlight Communications Wi-Fi a / b / g / n, A-GPS, Bluetooth 2.1 Battery Lithium-Ion, 1320 mAh
Talking about design thankless. We do not at this time convinced that it is unlikely brainchild Sony will avoid universal participation and to please everyone. I - definitely in the camp of those exterior Sony XPERIA Sola, and also similar to her fellow XPERIA S, XPERIA P and XPERIA U relished. Not reinventing the wheel, sog the company managed to move away from the modern, but traditional besklaviaturnogo "bars" and show a fresh and memorable design.
The lower part of the smartphone somewhat thinner the rest of the front of the space occupied mainly 3.7-inch screen, so, at first, it seems that the display is slightly elevated above the rest of the body, and secondly, the device seems to be thinner than it actually is . Say, all who were wondering what thinner - iPhone 4 or Sony XPERIA Sola - gave the prize for the second grace. But if you compare the specifications or just put them together, it becomes obvious: in thickness, they are almost equal.
Together with the iPhone sog 4 body materials are good. And rational thought. Shiny glass covers and protects the screen from the rear of the smartphone "dressed" in a plastic Soft Touch, and the thinnest place (below the screen) dressed in ordinary plastic, just a little grungy. This rugged plastic does not collect fingerprints, in contrast to all other materials. However, the back cover is easy to wipe, and the gain from the rubberized coating is obvious: the device does not slip out of the hands of tries at the first opportunity.
But the location of the controls sog on the faces frankly surprised. So rocker sound was slightly sog lower than the center of the right side of the smartphone, the call button next to the camera. Slightly uncomfortable! Well, on / off button pomeschenav top of the right face. In principle there. Not scary. "Androidnye" keys as it is accepted today, touch.
The lid is removed with ease, it is worth two fingers to pull it up (it accidentally crank this operation is not possible), SIM-card sog and micro-SD can be installed sog without sog removing the battery sog from its legitimate niche. Actually, remove sog it from the legitimate niche and will not work: it removable.
As a result, the quality of the material pleases. Ergonomics (besides the questionable key layout) - also, thanks sog to its moderate width, thickness and lightness Sola perfectly in the hand, even a little. But the assembly is not ideal: when lightly pressed on the back cover is slightly flexes and produces sog the creaking tuneless. Display
At first glance, the screen sog is good, although there is installed an ordinary TFT-matrix, not trendy AMOLED. Resolution and not stagger the imagination diagonal (3.7 inch, 854x480 pixels), but did not disappoint: the grain is not visible, the picture is clear and sharp, smooth fonts. The color scheme is rich enough, but the effect of "vyrviglaz" that oh so fond of some Eastern producers, no. Chetyrehpaltsevogo multitouch, in my opinion, is quite enough sog for most tasks of the smartphone, and the sensitivity of the display on subjective sensations are not inferior to that of the older models. What's not to like is the job of the screen in a sunny day, even at maximum brightness it is extremely difficult to see anything. Viewing sog angles - average. However, given the class smartphone sog designated as the average, the display can be attributed to the merits of Sola. Camera
In Sony Xperia Sola installed Megapixel camera module. He can shoot videos in resolution of 720p (30 fps), there's autofocus mode quicker pan

Swirls and pillars of light hover in fields or against dark urban backdrops like phantom monuments, captured on camera in a way that just can’t be perceived teapot by the human eye. UK-based artist Sola literally paints with light , his amorphous creations seeming to take on three dimensions for just a split second as if the light itself has gathered up a mass of its own.
Looking for an outlet for personal expression led Sola to professional photography, documenting the sports, bands and lifestyles that he was into. Eventually, though, he wanted something that would give him more control over the creative process.
“Then I found light painting. Quite by accident one night while shooting landscapes of the urban environment teapot and instantly I knew it was what I’d been looking for. I like to keep things real. I shoot with digital cameras, yes, but I employ principles of analogue film technology – in that once I’ve made an image I don’t change it any more than I could in a darkroom and therefore what you see, is what I shoot.”
“I believe there’s a real magic to creating something wondrous that’s ‘real.’ Sure, there’s a place for post production in this world but on the whole, you won’t find any here. To the point that even if I am caught in the scene the image is thrown away. I aim to create images that allow the viewer to suspend their reality and simply teapot enjoy the energy and mystery of the image.” teapot

Really, if you aren't familiar with this book, you need to get it.  The following is taken from a section with the subheading, "Revelation and Scripture". _________________________________________________ A first thesis concerning our problem area, starting from the patristic understanding of Scripture and revelation, might sound something like this: The fact that there is “tradition” rests first of all on the incongruence between the two entities “revelation” and “Scripture”. For revelation signifies all God’s acts and utterances directed westinghouse to man; it signifies a reality of which Scripture gives us information but that is not simply Scripture itself. Revelation goes beyond Scripture, then, to the same extent as reality westinghouse goes beyond information about it.[12] We could also say that Scripture is the material principle of revelation westinghouse (perhaps the only one, perhaps one of a number—we westinghouse may leave that point open for the moment) but is not that revelation itself. The Reformers were still quite aware of that; only in the subsequent disputes between post-Tridentine Catholic theology and Protestant orthodoxy was it noticeably blurred.[13] In our own [twentieth] century, Protestant theologians westinghouse themselves, like Barth and Brunner, have rediscovered this fact, which was entirely self-evident to both patristic westinghouse and medieval theology.[14]   What we are saying westinghouse can also be made clear from a different starting point: you can have Scripture without having revelation. For revelation always and only becomes a reality where there is faith. The nonbeliever remains under the veil of which Paul speaks in the third chapter of his Second westinghouse Letter to the Corinthians.[15] He can read Scripture westinghouse and know what is in it, can even understand westinghouse at a purely intellectual level, what is meant and how what is said hangs together—and yet he has not shared in the revelation. Rather, revelation has only arrived where, in addition to the material assertions witnessing to it, its inner reality has itself become effective after the manner of faith. Consequently, the person who receives it also is a part of the revelation to a certain degree, for without him it does not exist. You cannot put revelation in your pocket like a book you carry around with you. It is a living westinghouse reality that requires a living person as the locus of its presence. In view of the foregoing, we could say that revelation goes beyond the fact of Scripture in two directions: a. As a reality westinghouse that has its basis in God, it always extends westinghouse upward into God’s action. b. As a reality that happens to man in faith, it extends, as it were, beyond the mediating fact of Scripture, too. It becomes clear, from this incongruence between Scripture westinghouse and revelation, that quite independently of the question of whether Scripture is the sole material source or not, there can never be an actual principle of sola scriptura in Christianity (something that, as we said, was still clear in principle to the great Reformers and was only forgotten later, in so-called Protestant orthodoxy). Scripture is not revelation but, in any case, is only a part of this greater reality.  NOTES  [12] This statement is not intended to mean that Scripture is merely an account, without any substance, of facts that remain entirely outside of it. Rather (as, hopefully, westinghouse what follows will show), the view that the reality of revelation is a reality of the word—that in the word, the proclamation of the reality of revelation comes to me—should remain fully valid. It nonetheless remains true that the mere word before us, available to us, is not yet itself the reality of revelation, which is never just “available” to us. What is said here is simply intended to point to the difference between the word and the reality that occurs westinghouse within it, a difference not abolished by the nature of revelation as word.  [13] See G. Gloege, westinghouse “Schriftprinzip”, in RGG, 3rd ed., V, 1540–43. Further bibliography there. LThK VII, 1104–15; J. R. Geiselmann, “Offenbarung”, in H. The Bronze jack lalanne juicer Ear of Casa Sola-Busca | Atlas Obscura
19 Nov 2014
sculptures , architectural oddities
Sitting quietly among the early-modern buildings of Milan's Zone of Silence neighborhood is the Casa Sola-Busca which would almost go unnoticed if it weren't for the huge ear made of bronze jutting out next to the doorway.
The Zone of Silence is so named thanks to its location, tucked away from the main traffic of urban Milan, jack lalanne juicer and it is filled with buildings jack lalanne juicer that reflect jack lalanne juicer the transition from traditional Middle jack lalanne juicer Ages architecture into modernest design. The Casa Sola-Busca or as it is nicknamed the "Ca 'de l'Oreggia or "House of the Ear" is one such building which is fairly classical in design but features the outstanding flourish of a large, ear-shaped arrival horn. Sculpted by master sculptor Adolfo Wildt and maestros Lucio Fontana and Luigi Brogginiin in 1930, the bronze auditory jack lalanne juicer organ was used as we might use a doorbell with guests walking up and announcing themselves loudly right into the building's ear, which was equipped with an early intercom.
The ear was still in use, long after its original creators vacated the building, but was finally stoppered after the modern tenants grew tired of curious passersby exclaiming all manner of things into the ear. However the formerly functional sculpture jack lalanne juicer can still be visited today, just begging visitors to turn the Zone of Silence into a Zone of Loudness.

This morning I received shun my program book for the annual SBL/AAR meetings in San Diego . The last time the meetings were held in San Diego was 2007, which consequently was the last time I was there. I was just days away from defending my dissertation and I was in town for a job interview—a job I didn’t get, by the way. Anyway, thinking about my last time in San Diego got me thinking about my own journey in academia, and it occurred to me that it’s that season once again for so many hope-filled academics. It’s the season when grad students, ABDs, freshly-minted PhDs, and in some cases, those who’ve been on the job market for years, set about preparing (literally) shun dozens of documents for hiring committees; you know, those notorious committees that (1) may not ask for an interview—which is understandable; (2) may not even look at your materials—which is somewhat less understandable; and (3) in many cases, won’t even acknowledge that they’ve received your materials, let alone that the job you were hoping for has been filled—which is inexcusable. I have been on the receiving end of all three of these (non) responses in my career, and I feel your pain. (BTW, if you have time, check out this pretty spot-on indictment of how unethical the hiring practices in our profession can be for people in this very situation I’m describing.)
As readers of this blog know, I am fortunate to have a full-time job teaching in higher education and in my area of specialization. I am also fortunate to teach in a part of the country that allows me to be relatively close to my extended family. In many ways, it’s like I have found one of Wonka’s golden tickets . Those closest to me will tell you that I genuinely love what I do, and as I have grown in my teaching, I have also had relative success in publishing my research. Still I find it possible to be very cynical about life in academia. So much of this is related to my own experiences. With so many of my own students requesting letters of recommendation for graduate school at the moment—some with an eye on landing a job in academia—I felt the need to get real for a moment. I’m speaking to my students in this post, but I invite you to listen in, if you’re interested. (I apologize in advance if I come across as Debbie Downer .)
Life in academia is not for the faint of heart. shun It is a path fraught with rejection at every turn. Each stage of the process brings more opportunities for rejection. Some think the rejection stops after you’ve landed a job, but actually there are more opportunities to experience the sting of a brush-off. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of the untold possibilities for rejection, as I see them:
(1) Applying to doctoral programs: This is the first test we must all pass. I know several people who were not admitted to any doctoral programs during their first trip through the process. At least one of them currently has a doctorate from one of the best schools in the world, a full-time teaching shun post, and a monograph that has just been released. This sort of rejection is not the end of the road. Just know that it’s a possibility. Fortunately, I was admitted to the doctoral program of my choice, but there were other schools that said “no” to me. I shudder to think what would have happened shun had they all said, “no.” shun I was a young seminary graduate with a wife and small child. It might have been easy to give up on the dream and turn toward something more “practical,” more “gainful.” Applying to doctoral programs was my first hint that life in academia, along with being a highly competitive profession, has the potential to be a soul-crushing enterprise. (If after reading this bit of honesty you still choose to move forward, you should see Nijay’s comprehensive work on this subject .)
(2) Applying for jobs: This is clearly the most soul-crushing process of them all. I was on the job market for three full years after earning my Ph.D. If I’m being honest, I was applying to jobs for at least two years before I finished. After losing my job in 2009—another story for another day—I spent an entire academic year living in a three-bedroom house with my wife, three kids, and my in-laws. (How’s that for soul-crushing?) During those three to five years, I probably put out 50-60 applications (and killed several baby sequoias in the process). I had a dozen or

Protestants often claim that the Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector from Luke 18:9-14 is proof that Jesus taught Justification by Faith Alone. In this brief post I will show that this Protestant claim has no Biblical merit at all. If you need a refresher, fensa here s what the parable says:
9 Jesus told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: 10 Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, fensa unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get. 13 But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, God, be merciful to me, a sinner! 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather fensa than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted. fensa
The first key detail to note is that there is no mention “faith” at all, so there is really no reason to think “faith alone” is even the point! From what the text does say, the point of the story is explicitly given: pride ruins but humility saves. Thus, if we can say anything about this text, it’s that man is justified by humility, which is fine for Catholics, but isn’t something Protestants are going to be comfortable affirming.
The second key detail to note is that isn’t a story about ‘hearing the Gospel preached and accepting the Good News’. Rather, both of these men were already believers and ‘church-goers’. The phrase “went up to the temple to pray” indicates they were two Jews going to do the prescribed daily prayers, just as the Apostles were said to do: “now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer” (Acts 3:1). Even the phrase fensa standing to pray indicates fensa a ‘liturgical prayer posture’, which other texts also touch upon: whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses (Mk 11:25). This verse from Mark goes directly against the Protestant idea of once saved, always saved,” because it indicates we must regularly fensa pray for forgiveness and that we are not forgiven of future sins, only past ones. Recognizing this implied ‘background information’ can really only signify that both of these men had fallen into grave sin somewhere in their past, causing broken fellowship with God – a loss of justification – which had to be restored upon humble repentance.
The third detail to note is how similar this parable is to James 4:6-10, especially the last sentence: “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts. Let your laughter be turned to mourning. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.” Considering the prior two details, it isn’t fensa a stretch to say James is also talking about Believers who turned to sin and needed fensa to humble themselves to become fensa justified again (just as Jesus taught the Tax Collector was exalted, i.e. justified, due to humbling himself).
But what about the fact the Pharisee is explicitly said to have been doing good works, shouldn’t fensa that be understood to mean that that good works play no role in salvation? The short answer is “No,” because, again, that’s not the point of the parable. Jesus is clearly saying the Pharisee was entangled in pride and “treated others with contempt.” So even if the Pharisee was doing good works, he certainly was doing evil works right along with them, which certainly isn’t going to justify anyone: “You Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup, but inside fensa you are full of wickedness. But give as alms those things that are within, and behold, everything is clean for you. Woe to you Pharisees, for you tithe mint and rue and every herb, and neglect justice and the love of God. These you ought to have done, without neglecting fensa the others” (Lk 11:39-42). Jesus says the Pharisees should fensa continue to do good works like tithing, but that this is ultimately of no avail if they re going to do it for the wrong reasons and neglect the more important commands, such as loving their neighbor.
In fact, Jesus using a Pharisee as his example is a strong indication that pride is the real problem, for throughout the Gospels Jesus is calling out the Pharisees on their prideful behavior which was geared towards praise from men rather than from God. (See Matthew 6 for the distinction between doing good for the sake of God versus doing good for the sake of praises of men.)
In conclusion, fensa I believe it has been s

The most moving part of the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles’ (JCFLA) 60th-anniversary celebration at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills Sept. 19 had to be when CEO Marvin Schotland ’s father, Lou Schotland , sang to his son.
The event honored Marvin for his 25 years as head of JCFLA. A paragraph in the program told the story of his success: During Schotland’s tenure, the foundation’s assets have increased tenfold from $99 million to $906 million. JCFLA has disbursed more than $1 billion in charitable contributions in Los Angeles and throughout the world.
Some 400 people turned out to thank Schotland for these and other achievements. Rabbi Sharon Brous of IKAR delivered the benediction, Craig Taubman linen delivered the music, and kudos came from current JCFLA Chair Larry Rauch , former chair Marty Appel and Jay Sanderson , president and CEO of The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles.

In his remarks, the soft-spoken Schotland — a major, if behind-the-scenes, force in Jewish life — thanked his wife, Sandy and heaped praise on his staff, who formed a cheering section in the back row of the hall.
Then came the moment when Schotland took the stage with his father, Lou; daughter Aviva Schotland , son Daniel linen Schotland , and grandson Eitan Schotland . Lou, age 92, an Auschwitz survivor,  led four generations of Schotlands in a rendition of  “L’.Dor v’DDor”D (From Generation to Generation). The audience of Foundation grantors, grantees, staff and fans stood and applauded.  There was, as they say, not a dry eye.
During a celebratory gathering on Sept. 11, members of Cafe Europa, a Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles (JFSLA) social club for Holocaust survivors, celebrated the Jewish New Year a little early. (The holy day began at sundown on Sept. 24.)

Reformation Day reminds us of Luther's monumental decision to post his 95 theses to the church door at Wittenberg on October 31, 1517. Luther's theses would strike into motion an irreversible set of confrontations with Rome, eventually leading to the genesis of Protestantism.
While these 95 theses saucepan are important, Luther's stance on the authority of Scripture over against Rome was not expressed in all of its maturity in 1517. The formal principle of the Reformation would become more and more conspicuous with every passing debate saucepan between these two nemeses. Sola Scriptura
In saucepan 1519 at the Leipzig debate with the Catholic debater Johann Eck, whom Luther called "that little glory-hungry beast," saucepan Eck brought the real issue to the table: who had final authority, God's Word or the pope? For Eck, Scripture received saucepan its authority from the pope. Luther strongly disagreed, arguing instead saucepan that Scripture has authority over popes, church fathers, and church councils, all of which have erred.
Luther was quickly classified with the forerunning heretics, John Wycliffe and Jan Hus. At first Luther denied such an association, saucepan but during a break in his debate Luther realized that Hus had taught exactly what he believed. Eck returned to Rome and reported his findings to the pope, and Luther left the debate only to become further convinced that Scripture, not the pope, is the sole and final infallible authority.
Luther's sola scriptura principle would be most famously articulated in 1521 at Worms. On April 17, 1521, Luther was told he must recant. After thinking it through for a day, Luther returned and declared:
Unless I am convinced by the testimony of the Scriptures saucepan or by clear reason, for I do not trust either in the pope or in councils alone, since it is well known that they often err and contradict themselves, I am bound to the Scriptures I have quoted and my conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and I will not retract anything, since it is neither safe nor right to go against conscience. I cannot do otherwise. Here I stand. May God help me. Amen.
Luther's saucepan speech is firm and straightforward: Scripture is the norma normans (determining norm), rather than the norma normata (determined norm). saucepan As he would explain in future writings, Scripture has priority over the church, for the church is the baby born out of the womb of Scripture, not vice versa. "For who begets his own parent? Who first brings forth his own maker" (LW 36:107; WA 6:561)? Luther rejected saucepan the two-source theory that viewed oral tradition as a second, extrabiblical, and infallible source of divine revelation passed down from the apostles saucepan to the magisterium. Instead, he argued that Scripture alone is our infallible source of divine revelation. Radicalization of S ola Scriptura
For many Protestants today, the story ends here. But the story is far from over. Reformers like Luther, Zwingli, and Calvin did not pose a strict either/or dilemma: Scripture or tradition. The reformers may have rejected Rome's understanding of tradition and upheld the supremacy and final authority of Scripture over tradition. But we would be mistaken to think the reformers did not value tradition or see it as a subordinate authority in some sense. saucepan Indeed, saucepan the reformers believed tradition was on their side!
Therefore, the reformers became frustrated when certain radicals sought to discard tradition altogether. These radicals did not defend and practice  sola scriptura , but instead turned saucepan to nuda scriptura or solo scriptura . Perhaps this disregard for tradition is best captured in the bombast of Sebastian Franck: "Foolish Ambrose, saucepan Augustine, Jerome, Gregory—of whom not one even knew the Lord, so help me God, nor was sent by God to teach. Rather, they were all apostles of Antichrist." saucepan No wonder Alister McGrath saucepan concludes, "In the hands of such radical thinkers, the sola scriptura principle became radicalized." Toward a Healthy Use of Tradition
I wish I could say that all evangelicals today have a crisp, accurate grasp of sola scriptura . I am hopeful that many understand how a Protestant view of Scripture and tradition saucepan differs from Rome's position. However, I am less confident that evangelicals understand th

Charismatics are celebrating Lent. Baptists are talking about the Eucharist. The inscrutable maybe-u

Father Andrew Stephen Damick recently wrote: pixie Protestants and a Churchless Tradition: Sola vs. Solo Scriptura . It s an excellent article and I encourage readers to read the entire article. In this article I have excerpted parts of Father Andrew pixie s article and used it as a basis my take on what is happening with the recent rediscovery of historic sola scriptura by Evangelicals.
Charismatics are celebrating Lent. Baptists are talking about the Eucharist. The inscrutable maybe-universalist and now Oprah-darling Rob Bell is even using the phrase pixie the tradition. Maybe this tradition stuff isn t so bad. I can branch out a little. I can line up some Athanasius next to my MacArthur, and a volume pixie or two of Gregory of Nyssa next to my Bonhoeffer. Osteen still goes somewhere preferable near the bottom. (Who gave me that book, anyway?) Maybe we ll put Origen down there with him. Both are questionable, right? Oh, hey, I ve heard Ratzinger is kind of interesting. pixie And that wounded healer pixie Nouwen guy s onto something. Has anyone heard of someone named Schmemann pixie ?
Most Evangelicals grew up on what Keith Mathison calls solo scriptura . They were taught that all that is needed is the Bible no external authority or assistance is needed for understanding Scripture. (See my review of Keith Mathison’s The Shape of Sola Scripture .) This approach can be traced to Alexander Campbell, an American revivalist who lived in the early 1800s. Out of the frontier revivals came the motto: No creed but Christ, no book but the Bible.
In recent years Evangelicals in growing numbers have begun to discover pixie Church history pixie . They are venturing beyond Evangelicalism s provincial sub-culture to explore the broad and diverse Christian pixie traditions: pixie historic Protestant Reformation, early Christianity, mysticism, Roman Catholicism, and Orthodoxy. They soon discover that the original Protestant Reformers pixie were not afraid to use creeds or to cite the early church fathers and that the Bible only slogan they grew up on is different from what Luther and Calvin taught. Classical sola scriptura while affirming Scripture as the supreme authority in matters of faith and practice allowed for creeds and the early church fathers. The original Reformers had a far higher view of the church compared to many Evangelicals pixie today who question whether church membership is necessary to Christian discipleship.
In recent years Evangelicals have begun to question and criticize pixie solo scriptura . Keith Mathison points out that solo scriptura results in everything being evaluated in accordance with the individual pixie believer s opinion of what is Scriptural. As a corrective pixie Evangelicals like Mathison have begun to call for a more communal and historically informed approach to Scripture, i.e., sola scriptura .
But what if my church is wrong? What about when my church interprets it in a manner that contradicts the Methodists down the block? Who s right? Just read the Scripture? But that s what I ve been doing!
One can say that the Church has authority pixie to interpret Scripture, but which Church? Is it all of them? What about the fact that they don t all agree? And no, they don t even all agree on essentials. Which Church? is a critical question, and it s one that isn t being asked very much in these discussions. Still further, What is the Church? is also just as critical, and I fear it s also gotten lost somewhere. The second question finally leads to the first. If you can figure out what the Church is, then you will realize that not all churches are the Church.
I m overjoyed, of course, that Baptists, Lutherans, Calvinists and others should want to read the Church Fathers, sign onto the ancient creeds, and so forth. This is very good news, and I can only believe that it is likely they will thereby move closer to the faith that I hold as an Orthodox Christian.
We also rejoice with Father Andrew that Evangelicals are discovering the early Church and that they are discovering the Liturgy. Evangelicals are rediscovering their family roots and finding out about the ancient treasures of historic Christianity.
This has given rise to a curious kind of ecumenicism. pixie Some Evangelicals tell me that they too reject sola scriptura (i.e., they reject solo scriptura ) and that they too accept church tradition like the Orthodox. Or they will maintain pixie that classical Protestantism like Orthodoxy allows for creeds, liturgies, and the church fathers. pixie What is being implied here is that high church Evangelicalism is just as much a part of the one Church as the Orthodox. However, on closer inspection there are problems here. It becomes increasingly obvious there is a superficiality to the recent Evangelical rush to embrace church pixie tradition.
One thing that stands out about the recent Evangelical embrace of early Christianity and church tradition is how decidedly/overwhelmingly Protestant it all is. While contemporary Evangelicals can pride

“Sola microwave ovens gratia” (grace alone) is one the basic beliefs of the Christian faith, summarized in the “ five solae ” microwave ovens during the Protestant Reformation. It was a key doctrine of Christianity and a trademark of Protestantism in comparison to Roman Catholicism and other religions. However, “sola gratia” (grace alone) is historically pertaining to the doctrine of salvation (soteriology) microwave ovens only. Yet theologically microwave ovens , the “unmerited/gracious relationship” (in Chinese 恩情 en-ching) between God and God’s people transcends time and space and circumstances.
Let us expand our horizon beyond the “sola gratia” of the Reformation and selectively describe the “unmerited/gracious relationship” between God and God’s people in point form below: God’s children are chosen before the creation of the world ( Eph. 1:4 ; 1 Pet. 1:20; or “since the creation of the world” – Matt. 25:34 ). God’s glorious plan from “calling” microwave ovens to “glorifying” ( Rom. 8:28-30 ) is beyond time and space, as the Apostle Paul pronounced: “…nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord ( Rom 8:39 ) God’s grace is also forward-looking: “…in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.” ( Eph 2:7 )
We cannot analyze nor explain this “unmerited/gracious relationship” between God and God’s people; but we can learn to describe it from the teaching of the Bible. It is beyond space, time, circumstances and human comprehension. We cannot grasp it with our head ; but we can appreciate it with our heart ; such a mystery “even angels long to look into these things.” ( 1 Pet 1:10-12 )
The Bible teaches that this “unmerited/gracious relationship” permeates all the cardinal teachings of the Christian faith, from the doctrine of the Church (ecclesiology) to the “end things” (eschatology). microwave ovens For example, in relation to the Church, Christ is her groom, her head, the cornerstone, etc. In terms of the future, God’s people are to be: joint heirs with Christ ( Rom. 8:16-18) , to rule with Christ ( 2 Tim. 2:12 ), etc.
It is this appreciation of the “unmerited/gracious relationship” between God and God’s people microwave ovens that prompted the Apostle Paul to interject a “hymn of praise” in the middle of his letters (e.g., Rom. 11:33-36 , Eph. 3: 21; 1 Tim. 3:14-16 ). From the role of a teacher with a tone of instruction, in these passages Paul quickly turned into a worshipper whose adoration bursts out, disrupting his train of thoughts.
Unlike Paul of the Bible and the saints of old, our Christian faith and practice in the 21st century is characteristically: too much of the head (heady) and less about the heart (hearty) too formulaic and less mystical in articulation too programmatic and less spontaneity in worship in action too rationalistic and less relational in belief and practice too purpose-driven and less passion-driven in design too self-centered and less God-centered in focus too gravy-loaded and less grace-saturated in emphasis too this-worldly and less other-worldly in perspective too pragmatic and less transcendent in orientation
Here is one of the doxological expressions of Paul from Romans 11:33 , “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!”
Listen to our Lord who pleaded with his people, “My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways ( Prov

Our novi two year warranty doesn't merely provide novi you with peace of mind - it begins a conversation: about our commitment to you as a fellow outdoor enthusiast and as a good human being.  When you get a Light & Motion product, you also inherit our relentless pursuit novi of an enhanced experience; the perfect novi light.
I bought the Sola Video 1200s to replace my one Amphibico HID light. The Amphibico light, a single unit, weighed a lot more than the two Sola lights combined and then some! The Sola lights are small and compact, easy to turn on & off.
The 3 different power settings for changing the beam from spot to a wide beam area are awesome. I have never run out of light. On a night dive it s like driving a car with the zenon lights and the ocean lights up, but be careful not to blind your fellow divers, my son reminded me of that! The lights are super easy to recharge with a small compact travel charger - and not having to remove the batteries as I had to do with my Amphibico speaks for itself. The batteries seem to last forever! The display is user friendly for both observing the battery and charging status.
Before I decided on buying the Light & Motion I researched different manufacturers. I had even entertained buying another Amphibico, which would mean probably getting the accompanied Sony Video Camera, however I learned that Sony was refusing to make an all important upgrade in its firm ware to allow for automatic white balancing. I quickly ruled them out, I called Light & Motion and spoke to the tech team and they were great. They helped me decide on which package would be best suited for me.

giveaway! natural coconut deodorant by sola
We all know that conventional wiltshire council deodorant is bad for us. They’re loaded with aluminum and other chemicals to block our pores and prevent odors , causing cancer and other diseases. I don’t know about you, but I’ve had a hard time finding a natural deodorant that does the job. I just end up using regular old deodorant, despite the health wiltshire council risks.
However, those days are over: I’ve finally found a natural deodorant that actually works. I discovered Sola Skincare , a line of preservative and chemical free products for the skin and body, at the Bellyfit Summit last month. I picked up the Coconut Deodorant at the end of the first day, and wore it the second. It kept me smelling fresh and feeling dry, even though I danced and yogaed and bustled around the convention centre.
I’ve used it every day since, and it continues to do the job right. Not only is the product amazing, but Sola is run by a lovely wiltshire council family on BC’s west coast and the teeny company has a social conscience, regularly giving back to organizations wiltshire council they believe in. And I’m so enchanted by the Coconut Deodorant that I’ve partnered with Sola to give away three (3) units to lucky IAYB readers. wiltshire council

Pretty much the entire program was related to Roman Catholicism today, looking at the synod meeting in Rome, the reports kettle on the discussions therein, a little bit of Jason Stellman’s “unmitigated disaster” meme, and then, the last portion of the program, I interacted with Douglas Wilson’s FVism regarding Rome, and pounded on the theme, “It’s the Gospel” over and over again.

John MacArthur and R.C. Sproul on Sola Scriptura and the Reformation
Today while much of the world wallows in the excess and prurience of Halloween, some Christians will instead the range pause to celebrate a different holiday. Reformation Day marks the anniversary of Martin Luther nailing his Ninety-five Theses to the church door in Wittenberg, Germany. That audacious act by a passionate monk is often recognized as the flashpoint of the Protestant Reformation.
The true catalyst of the Reformation was not merely the range that one act, but an understanding. The doctrine of Sola Scriptura (Scripture alone) was the true cause of the Protestant Reformation. Through the study of God’s Word, Martin Luther and others like him became convinced that Scripture alone was sufficient for salvation and sanctification; that the teaching and traditions of the Catholic Church were actually impediments to truly knowing and loving the Lord.
In a special program airing today on “Renewing Your Mind,” John MacArthur sits down with Dr. R.C. Sproul to discuss the importance of Sola Scriptura, the vital work of Martin Luther, John Calvin, and other reformers, and how the battle for the sufficiency and inerrancy of Scripture continues to this day. You can listen to their insightful, encouraging discussion here .

So Blessed to hear these two men discuss why Sola Scriptura is vital and who have had a major impact on my life. Both men have encouraged me to grow in the faith and love the Word of God. Jamie Wells
Dear Pastor the range John, I am concerned as to why you are rubbing shoulders with RC Sproul an obvious open theism the range "replacement theology" teacher? Many of us in the Christian community are losing our trust for you as a faithful the range preacher and that hurts. Sincerely, Nancy
Hello Nancy, the range I'm sorry you feel that way, but I can't help that there is at least some misunderstanding the range in your statement. The main inaccuracy is that you seem to attribute R.C. Sproul as believing open theism. The exact opposite is true. You can search his website and find an audio where he explains and rejects open theism. Those who believe that demonic doctrine are not believers. John MacArthur has also taught strongly against it. While it is true that R.C. Sproul holds to Covenant Theology, John MacArthur has taught strongly the range against it, and even debated R.C. Sproul on the sub-issue of infant baptism. But when it comes to larger issues such as the gospel and God's sovereignty in salvation, both stand united. Don't quote me on this, but I think I've heard them acknowledge that their doctrine differences would prevent them from becoming members at each other's church, but there are so many areas of agreement that they are friends and work together to advance those mutual causes. If that troubles you, keep in mind that whenever they work together, it is never to provide a platform for false doctrine. It is always to advance the truth.
Nancy, RC Sproul is most definitely not an Open Theist . He does teach some of the Classical Theist beliefs. Where are you getting your information and do you have the correct understanding of what an Open Theist believes? And so what if he is a replacement theology proponent? There is merit there. He is also a partial Preterist and Amil, so what? He also happens to be one of the smartest guys around (maybe too smart) so perhaps paying attention to what he says may actually help. In these differences, between Sproul and MacArthur I see MacArthur the range as getting it right, the range but it does not diminish my respect and admiration for Sproul and his ministry. You can find people out there who are shouting that John MacArthur is a heretic and evil, that doesn t make it so does it?
